Parents Portal

Dear Friends,
On behalf of the PAC, we would like to extend a very warm welcome to all parents, guardians, and families of students at Boulevard Nursery School Inc. (BNS) for the 2021-2022 school year.

We are hoping to regain a small amount of normalcy this year as our community slowly opens to full capacity. We look forward to working with parents to plan meaningful events and fundraisers when appropriate. The administration welcomes all ideas from our families as we continue to adapt to new learning formats.

In September the Program Director will introduce new families to the roles of our Parent Advisory Committee and the voting process. We will discuss fundraising events, curriculum planning, developmental screenings, parent meetings, holiday celebrations and graduation. This year may still bring limitations to certain types of gatherings and our meetings may remain virtual; however we will strive to build community for all of our families.

Please reach out if you have any questions or ideas, or if you want to get more involved with the Parent Advisory Committee. The Volunteer Opportunities section of this website explains what we do, our events/activities, our committees and areas where we could use your assistance. Please volunteer for a committee, or a position on our Advisory Board. We would love to hear from you!! (blvdnursery@optimum.net)
Regards,

Ms. Robertson, Ms. James, Ms. Miles & Mrs. Francis

Mission Statement

The Parent Advisory Committee is comprised of all parents and guardians of the students enrolled at BNS. Our goal is to support extraordinary educational opportunities for our students, provide professional development for our faculty and offer a variety of extracurricular activities for the entire student body.

Our success is due to our ongoing, positive working relationship with the faculty, staff, and administration as well as the many hours of volunteer service and monetary donations that our dedicated families willingly contribute. Parent contributions and involvement allow us to enrich our students while also supporting the Administration’s efforts to enhance the teaching and learning environment.

Parent Association Dues

There will be a fee of $5.00 required from each parent upon enrollment into the new school year. Due to Covid-19 restrictions the fee has been reduced; because we will have limited participation in certain fundraisers such as bake sales. Your fee is payable to your child’s teacher or Ms. James (Office Manager & Enrollment Specialist).

For the 2021-2022 School Year, the PAC fee covers the following:

Costs for Student Functions:

  • Upcoming Events will be announced as Covid-19 Restrictions are lifted such as our Annual Bowtie and TuTu Valentine’s Dance

Costs for Teacher Appreciation:

  • Holiday & year-end gifts for all students
  • Teacher Appreciation Week celebration

The PAC Fee is as follows:

  • $5.00 per child

Volunteer Opportunities

There are many ways to get involved and a variety of volunteer opportunities to accommodate most schedules. We welcome your ideas, skills, talent and most importantly your time. Parent volunteers are vital to school events – without your support we would not be able to offer our students a well-rounded educational experience. Your participation also gives you the opportunity to meet other parents/educators, have a voice in school programs & events and make a lasting impact on our school.

The Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) is structured as an organized set of committees, each with different goals and events to help enrich the school. You can serve as the President or Vice President of The PAC and organize events with the Program Director (Ms. Robertson).

Welcoming & Retention
This committee works with the BNS administration to bring new families to BNS and welcome them to the school upon acceptance. The committee members help with Open House tours and serve as a resource for prospective families.

Special Events
This committee puts on special events for the students to enrich student life including The Bowtie & TuTu Valentine’s Day Dance, Costume Parade, Friends-Giving Celebration, Singing To Santa Gift Exchange, Pajama Day, Wacky Dress-Up Day, Carnival Day, Prom and Graduation.

Classroom Representatives
A Classroom Representative serves as a liaison between the classroom teacher, the parents/guardians of the class and the Parents Advisory Committee. The Classroom Representative also helps to foster community within their class by having regular interaction with the other parents such as proposing ways to connect through play dates, coffee chats or other family get-togethers appropriate to the class.

Teacher Appreciation Committee
The goal of this committee is to ensure our beloved teachers feel appreciated and are recognized for their contributions and dedication to the students. Volunteers create and distribute a small thoughtful gift to the teachers during Teacher Appreciation Week in the Spring.

Community Activities & Additional Fundraising
Parents can help by participating with Candy Sales, Book Fairs, King & Queen Booster Sales & Bake Sales (If applicable to Covid-19 Restrictions). The Program Director will work on BNS becoming partners with Box Tops for Education and Amazon Smile. Once these partnerships are developed a committee will be created.

You can learn more about volunteer opportunities from the Program Director (Ms. Robertson).

If you would like to inquire and/or volunteer for any of the above committees, please email blvdnursery@optimum.net

Blessings,
Ms. Robertson – Program Director
